Colorado Driver Education

Colorado Driver Education

In Colorado, you now have the option of taking drivers ed online. Parents of teens in Colorado will appreciate the flexibility of being able to enroll their teen in a state approved Colorado driver education course via the Internet. There are many remote areas in Colorado where taking a traditional drivers ed course may not be possible. Additionally, in many families today, it's not uncommon that both parents work. This presents a challenge for the parent having to take off from work every day to get their teen to their drivers education class.

Colorado Drivers Ed

The first step is to enroll in an online course. It's important to be sure you are enrolling in a state approved course. Teens can begin the drivers ed course at age 15, however, the State of Colorado requires teens to be 15½ in order to receive their Colorado learners permit. The first six hours of the course will teach the student critical rules of the road, driving safety, Colorado specific driving laws and prepare them for the written exam. You will need to pass the written exam in order to obtain your learners permit.

After receiving your Colorado learners permit, you'll continue the course until completion. You must hold your learners permit for one year in Colorado before applying for your provisional drivers license. If the course is started at 15½, you'll be eligible for your drivers license at age 16½. For more information on this course, visit the Colorado Driver Education website.
